Your Number One Priority.

By jpmsingapore

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the number of things that you need to do during the day? Have you ever had so many things to do, that you didn’t know where to start? How you ever found yourself on the treadmill of life – running hard, but getting nowhere!? Has it ever happened that the things you most want to do seem to be continually pushed off into the future?

There is a cure for that and it’s called putting first things first. Or rather, putting the first thing first!

In Luke 10:38-42, Martha, the sister of Mary and Lazarus, was in a similar situation. Jesus said that she was troubled and agitated about many things, but that only one thing was needful. That one thing was spending time at the feet of Jesus, hearing His Word (Luke 10:39).

The most productive thing that you can do in life for yourself and for the Kingdom of God is to take time to wait upon the Lord and to hear His Word. That will cause you to bear much fruit, and to be a great blessing, not only to yourself, but to all those around you. The will of God and the plan of God for your life will come to pass.

The first priority you have in each day is not to get your work done, but to spend time with God, hearing Him, praying in the Spirit and meditating on His Word. If you do that, the scripture promises that you will be blessed and prosper in all that you do. (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3).

And if you don’t, you won’t!
