Out of Great Trials Come Great Triumphs, Pt 1
On another occasion we had a great attack come against one of our other children. It was the most difficult spiritual battle that Mary and I had ever found ourselves in and it stretched out over a period of a month or more.
You know it’s a spiritual battle when you can sense the forces of hell that are arrayed against you. With Paul you can say, “We were troubled on every side; without were fightings, within were fears.” (2 Cor 7:5).
Sadness, sorrow and fear gripped us. We would go to bed at night with heavy hearts and wake up in the morning feeling the same. One of those nights though I prayed in the Holy Ghost before falling off to sleep. (Praying for an hour in tongues like that before drifting off to sleep helped to set me up for victory in the morning).
When I awoke the next morning, once again my thoughts started to tend toward the negative, but I forced myself to begin meditating on the truth of God’s word that as Jesus is, so am I in this world, and that perfect love casts out all fear.
To tell you the truth, I felt little or no unction to speak, but I just forced my thoughts over onto God’s Word. It helped me especially when I began to speak the Word. That turned the tide.
Sometimes you simply cannot overcome negative thoughts with positive thoughts. The best way to overcome negative thoughts is with positive words!
Bro Hagin often said, “Faith filled words, spoken out of the heart, will lead the heart out of defeat into victory every time.” (Cont’d)
