When It Seems Like Nothing Is Happening, Pt 2

Mark 4:26-29 And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

Picture the farmer who plants corn and the next morning goes out to the field expecting to see a full and mature crop. That would be ridiculous, of course, but that is exactly what many Christians do after they plant the seed of God’s Word in their hearts.

Many times they quit before they reap a harvest because they do not see immediate results. But there is always a period of time with every seed that is planted when it appears that nothing is happening. Learn to persevere through that season. That’s why Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

There’s always a period of time with every seed when the ground looks dry and dead and lifeless, and your circumstances can look dry and dead and lifeless too. However, if you’ll be faithful to plant the seed of God’s Word in your heart by hearing it and hearing it until it registers on your spirit, and faithful to water it by meditating upon it, then you will have a harvest!
