When It Seems Like Nothing Is Happening, Pt 1

Mark 4:26-29 And He said, “The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. For the earth yields crops by itself: first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head. But when the grain ripens, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

I have shared with you from the parable of the seed in Mark 4:26-29, that there are three things about seeds that you need to know, otherwise you will be defeated and the devil will stop you from reaping a harvest.

The first was that seeds are deceptive in their appearance. The second was that seeds are powerless until planted. And the third is this: in the natural world, there is always a period time with every seed when it appears that nothing is happening! And in the spiritual world, very often that is also the case.

Certainly there are times when our faith in God’s Word brings about instantaneous results, but often when you are receiving by faith—as we see in this parable—the harvest comes in stages, and there is a period of time when it looks like nothing is happening with that seed that you have planted in your heart.

Don’t be discouraged! Instead, hold fast to your confession of faith and in due season you will reap if you faint not. (Heb 10:23; Gal 6:9).
